Mark Paterson is the author of the short story collections A Finely Tuned Apathy Machine and Other People’s Showers . He is the winner of the 2010 3Macs carte blanche Prize for his story “Something Important and Delicate”. In 2009, his story “Spring Training” won first prize in the 5th annual Geist Literal Literary Postcard Story Contest. Mark was born in northern California and grew up in Montreal where he currently lives. From 2000 to 2002, he was co-host of the cabaret series Grimy Windows Variety Showcase which, during its two-year run at Montreal’s Hurley’s Irish Pub, was noteworthy for its inclusion of professional wrestlers alongside poets, writers, comedians, musicians, and filmmakers.
